Artists as Independent Publishers er eit kunstnerisk utviklingsprosjekt som omhandlar kunstnerbøker, og er eit internasjonalt samarbeid mellom Kunst- og Design Høgskulen i Bergen, University of Arts i Bremen, Royal Institute of Art i Stockholm, Royal College of Arts i London og University of Applied Arts i Wien.
Prosjektet har som formål å utforske tendensar og moglegheiter for kunstnerboka, og aktivt bidra til å forme desse. Dette har tatt form via ei rekke føredrag, symposium, og deltakaranes eigne bøker som er laga spesifikt i høve dette prosjektet; og kulminerar no i ein utstillingssyklus som skal innom alle samarbeidsnasjonane.
Vi har gleda av å ta over stafettpinnen frå Weserburg Museum i Bremen, Tyskland, og vil iløpet av utstillingsveka opne for at publikum kan kome og utforske, diskutere og nyte ca 80 bøker som spenner over mange felt og interesser.
Artists as Independent Publishers is an artistic research project that concerns Artist Books, and is an international cooperation between Art Academy in Bergen, University of Arts in Bremen, The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Royal College of Arts in London and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
The project intends to explore tendencies and possibilities for the artist book, and actively contributing to shape them. This has been manifesting through a range of symposiums, lectures and the participants own books specifically made for this project, and is now culminating in an exhibition cycle that will be presented in all participating nations.
It’s our pleasure to be the next exhibitors after Weserburg Museum in Bremen, Germany, and will during the exhibition week open up for the public, so that you may all come and explore, discuss and enjoy about 80 books ranging from various fields of interest.
