Lindsay Lawson og Jenine Marsh finner en felles plattform i skulpturer som adresserer kroppslighet på kanten av hva som er naturlig og personlig. I Lawsons gjennomsiktige 3D-printede beholdere, og plastposer som inneholder uidentifiserbare objekter, og i Marshs verker med taktile overflater av akrylbehandlede blomster, blir skillet mellom det indre og ytre synliggjort. De utnytter videre formatet med en duo-utstilling til å nettopp fokuserer på de glidende overgangene mellom deres ulike kunstnerskap og arbeider i utstillingen. For ‘Dear Stranger’ har Entrée brukt en open-call og utvelgelsesprosessen er gjort gjennom algoritmene til programmet Curatron. Curatron er et nettbasert system designet for å tillate kunstnerne til å selv være aktive i utvelgelsesprosessen. Det var totalt 1300 kunstnere som søkte til utstillingen.
Lindsay Lawson and Jenine Marsh find common ground in sculptures that address physicality at the edge of what is natural and what is personal. In Lawson’s transparent 3D printed vessels and plastic bags containing unidentifiable objects, and in Marsh’s tactile skins of rubberized flowers, the divide between interior or exterior bleeds, and self becomes visible, mutual, and mutable. For their exhibition at Entrée, they will confront the format of a two-person exhibition as a site of slippage between interiority and exteriority, exposing this border through contrast and contagion. The duo-show ‘Dear Stranger’, is an exhibition that has used the election process and algorithms of Curatron, an online system designed to allow artists to apply to an open call and to collectively select the successful applicants. In the case of the exhibition at Entrée, 1300 artists applied.
