23. mai gjenåpner KODE 1, tidligere Permanenten, for publikum. Samtidig presenteres en ny utstilling med H.M. Dronning Sonja. Utstillingen blir en fortelling om hvilken betydning kunst har i menneskers liv, da spesielt i Dronningens liv. I tillegg blir dette en kunstnerisk markering av Dronningens 80-årsjubileum.
Utstillingen består av Dronningens egne verk innenfor grafikk og keramikk, i tillegg til et lite utvalg fra Dronningens private samling av kunsthåndverk. Dronningen har gjennom et langt liv vært en viktig formidler av norsk kunst og design i inn- og utland.
Som kunstner har Dronningen hatt en dyp og utforskende kunstinteresse, i tillegg har Dronningen støttet opp om både billedkunst og kunsthåndverk i Norge. Dronningen har også flere historiske bånd til KODE 1, blant annet fra åpningen av Sølvskatten i 2009 og utstillingen av Slottsskatter i 2012.
Utstillingen åpner 23. mai 2017, og produseres og kurateres i samarbeid mellom KODE og Det Kongelige Slott.

On 23 May, KODE 1 reopens to the public. At the same time, we present a new exhibition with H.M. Queen Sonja of Norway. The exhibition tells a story about the meaning of art in people’s lives, in particular, in the life of Queen Sonja. The exhibition is also an artistic marking of her 80th birthday.
The exhibition consists of the queen’s own printed and ceramic works and a small selection from her private collection of craft. Throughout her long life, Queen Sonja has helped international audiences learn about and experience Norwegian art and design.
As an artist herself, Queen Sonja has had a deep, exploratory interest in art and has supported craft and the visual arts in Norway. She also has several historical ties to KODE 1. She was, among other things, present at the opening of the exhibition Sølvskatten (The Silver Treasure) in 2009 and the exhibition Slottsskatter (Palace Treasures) in 2012.
The exhibition “Underveis” (Underway) opens on 23 May 2017 and is produced and curated through collaboration between KODE and the Royal House of Norway.
