Florence Lam (b.1992), originally from Hong Kong and now based in Reykjavik, Iceland, works across mediums, recently focusing more on performances and sound from a sculptural perspective. Surrounding ideas of magic, therapy, child and positive psychology, she picks out and amplifies the subject matter’s own charm to create a sense of surprise, the trigger of wonder, as if the object is engaging to the audience to create an illusion of liveliness with familiar intimacy.

Florence graduated from BA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in 2014 and is currently pursuing her MA Fine Art at Iceland Academy of Arts. She has performed and exhibited widely including “The Artist Disappears”, Cabaret der Künstler – Zunfthaus Voltaire, Manifesta 11, Zurich, Switzerland (2016); “Furo-rensu No Heya”, PARADISE AIR, Chiba, Japan (2016); “Ummerki Vatns”, Hafnarborg Art Museum, Iceland (2016); “Balloon Performance”, Pantocrator Gallery, Shanghai, China (2015); National Open Art, Somerset House, London (2014). Her works has been shortlisted by Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2014
