Bergen based Brazilian artist Fernanda Chieco has travelled the world extensively since completing her Masters Degree at Goldsmiths College, London in 2003. She searches for intriguing stories and challenging materials with which to produce artworks.

Her works address relationships between humans and complex themes such as consumption, control and dominant social habits.

She has recently created drawings and paintings using airplane blankets, ox intestine, fish skins, poppy petals, used serviettes and precious minerals.

From her Atelier in Stølegaten, Chieco will exhibit her latest series of drawings, watercolours and oil paintings produced during the COVID-19 lock-down.

Her dramatic ongoing series of watercolours depicting self combusting women in recycled frames have been inspired by the work of Norwegian writer Jens Bjørneboe.

She will also be showing her latest series of portraits in oil of masked faces staring at obscure objects.
