Trudi Jaeger: Something between the sea and the strand.

Trudi Jaeger: Something between the sea and the strand.

In June 2019 Trudi Jaeger made a journey to the northern Outer Hebridean islands of Lewis and Harris for the first time. This journey was a part of a planned series of journeys to the wild and open spaces of north-western Scotland, the second of which will take the southern islands, the Uists, Benbecula and Barra later in 2020.

These fragile landscapes are situated on the outer edges of Europe. They are places of myth permeated with history. Parts of these places are also disappearing because of climate change.

This exhibition is the fifth presentation of Jaeger’s on-going project on vulnerable landscapes facing the Atlantic Ocean. The exploration of space is central to Jaeger’s practice as an artist. In her work she involves herself in a highly subjective physical exploration of certain specific areas. Situations become de-composed and the observer becomes involved in a process where new constellations of time and place meet each other.
