Trudi Jaeger jobbar stadsrelatert med maleri og teikning som ofte har utspring i sårbare områder som rører ved henne, slik som den unike kystfloraen på Vestlandet, som har måtta tilpassa seg dei harde omgjevnadene. Lys fargar, transparens, tid, nerve og kartografi er komponentar ho går i dialog med og abstraherer. Hennar prosess kan sjåast i samanheng med action painting, der konsentrert nærvære som meditativ performance, fullstendig ro og konsentrasjon er essensielt. Utstillinga ’QUARTUS Illuminations – Atlas Littoralis’ vil bestå av maleri og arkitektoniske grep for å relatere dei romlege spenningane i arbeida til utstillingsrommet i Kabuso.
Utstillinga vert kuratert av Randi Grov Berger og inngår i Vestlandsutstillingen 2018 (VU18), ei annleis utgåve av den tradisjonelle landsdelsutstillinga. VU18 består av seks separatutstillingar, og inkluderer visningsstadane Kunsthuset Kabuso, Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum i samarbeid med Sunnfjord Kunstlag, Haugesund Billedgalleri i samarbeid med Haugesund Kunstforening, Jugendstilsenteret og KUBE, Entrée og Kunsthall Stavanger. VU18 presenterer kunstnarane Ragnhild Aamås, Magnhild Øen Nordahl, Trudi Jaeger, Eivind Egeland, Karen Skog og kunstnarduoen Blomgren & Skuladottir, som samla utgjer ein breidde i det som skjer på den vestlandske kunstscena.
Trudi Jaeger (født 1951, London) bor og arbeider i Bergen. Hun har sin utdannelse fra St.Martin’s School of Art og Goldsmith’s College i London. Jaeger har tidligere vert aktuell ved VU10, VU98, VU95, VU91 og VU86.
Trudi Jaeger works site-specific with painting and drawing, which often originates in vulnerable areas that moves her, such as the unique coastal flora along western Norway, which has been required to adapt to this very rough environment. Light colours, transparency, time, nerve and cartography are some of the components she interacts with and abstracts. Her process can be seen in relation to action painting, where intense presence, meditative performance, complete calm and concentration are essential. The exhibition ‘QUARTUS Illuminations – Atlas Littoralis’ will consist of paintings and architectural topographies to connect the spatial tensions in her work to the exhibitions space of Kabuso. Trudi Jaeger (born 1951, London) lives and works in Bergen. She has her education from St.Martin’s School of Art and Goldsmith’s College in London.
The exhibition is curated by Randi Grov Berger and is part of Vestlandsutstillingen 2018 (VU18), the annual edition of the traditional regional exhibition. VU18 consists of six solo exhibitions, in the venues Kunsthuset Kabuso, Sogn og Fjordane Kunstmuseum in collaboration with Sunnfjord Kunstlag, Haugesund Billedgalleri in collaboration with Haugesund Kunstforening, Jugendstilsenteret og KUBE, Entrée and Kunsthall Stavanger. VU18 presents artists Ragnhild Aamås, Magnhild Øen Nordahl, Trudi Jaeger, Eivind Egeland, Karen Skog and the duo Blomgren & Skuladottir.
