Joy Forum presents Tijs Ham.
Tijs Ham is a Dutch sound artist and performer, focusing on the exploration of tipping points in chaotic processes to investigate ‘sonic expression’ in the context of live electronic music, performance and instrument design.
As part of his artistic research at the UiB Tijs Ham is developing new
electronic instruments, compositions and performances. His first instruments
examines the theme of ‘Fragility’ in the context of tipping points in
the chaotic processes that lie at the heart of his instruments. During the
project, the instrument will produce a fragile sound, on the verge of collapsing into silence. During scheduled moments the artist intervenes, performing the instrument for those in attendance. Each performance ends
yet again in a fragile state of a ‘near silence’ until either the next performance or the end of the exhibiiton
