In her sculptural and writing practice Ingrid Furre (b. 1983 in Stavanger) explores the (im)possibilities language and places can offer. Ingrid’s work resembles nesting, a continual human and animal activity. Where to meet is a recurring question, an evolving material and conceptual issue that becomes a sculptural proposal of abstract character. Furre’s upcoming exhibition at Hordaland kunstsenter is located in between language and sculpture, the material surfaces, the tongue, a site for speaking and crying.
Ingrid Furre graduated from Malmö Art Academy in 2013, and has since exhibited at Obra, Malmö; Dan Gunn, Berlin; Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm; Vigeland-Museet, Oslo among others. She received the Aase & Richard Björklund stipendium from Malmö Konstmuseum in 2014 and Edstrandska Stiftelsen Stipendium in 2015. She was the receiver of the Iaspis Residency in Mexico City in 2015 and a six month residency at Cite des Arts, Paris in 2018.
