Joy Forum is a kind of anti-statement and anti-architecture in confrontation with the surrounding building.
A gallery where we can handle and disarm any overwhelming feelings of institutional powerlessness.
Joy Forum presents Ellen Eurenius Hallgren.

My grandfather worked as a UN observer in Damascus in 1959 to 1960.
My grandmother wrote a letter to my grandfather before she and their three daughters began the trip to their new home in Damascus. Dreamy, with high expectations of their new life. Last year, I found objects that my grandmother had collected while living in Damascus. Objects that have been kept in a cherished way in my grandmother´s house since they got back to Sweden in 1961. A doorknocker in the shape of a hand, a camel and a donkey in brass, a small notebook, a dagger and a piece of stone from Palmyra, the ancient city that was partially destroyed in the war that has been conducted in Syria in recent years.

Moving Through Thresholds is an installation that both takes inspiration and uses the objects from my grandmother and contains objects that my friends and I have collected from different places. The installation comprises of sculptural works, a video work and collages placed in an environment. This environment aims to interweave the contexts of home and an archive cabinet referring to an idea of the home as a type of private archive for collected objects.

Opening hours 02.05- 06.05. 09:00-15:00 (Weekends closed)
